The Jacksboro Tigers put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 24-17 victory over Millsap. Given Jacksboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Millsap is ranked 468th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected. Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jacksboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cannon Valenzuela, who picked up 177 receiving yards and a touchdown. Valenzuela is on a roll when it comes to receiving yards, as he's now posted 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Tyler Mitchell also helped out as he racked up 109 receiving yards. When it comes to explaining why Millsap lost, one person who can't be blamed is Reid Green. Despite the final result, he rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown. Green was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 65 yards. Walter Bagley made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house. Jacksboro's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Boyd and 2-6 Eastland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 41.4% over those games). As for Millsap, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3. Jacksboro will take on Dublin at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. As for Millsap, they will head out on the road to face off against Merkel at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Merkel is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
